Tenderly Traditional Home That Is Newly Renovated

Project Overview

This tenderly traditional home is wholehearted, friendly, and warm. Rather than relying solely on its newly renovated qualities, it celebrates a thoughtful merger of old and new. This project was a combination of renovation and addition, and it stands as a strong example of how these services can lean on each other to produce a seamless finish.

Beginning with the main construction focus, the scope included the addition of an oversized two-car garage, a new primary ensuite, a mudroom, and a connecting hallway. Together, these elements expanded the home while preserving its original character.

Exterior Details

Wood-toned garage doors offer a warm welcome. They perfectly complement the white oak wood front door, the exposed beams of the front verandah, and the Maibec wood siding. As a result, the exterior feels both cohesive and timeless. It remains true to its pocketed neighbourhood while still being eye-catching.

The Primary Suite

The primary bedroom is beautifully bright, spacious, and lined with windows. Meanwhile, the ensuite is particularly impressive and is one of the largest we have completed to date. It was designed to comfortably accommodate two adults moving through a full morning routine without crossing paths.

The ensuite features a generous marble-and-glass shower, a freestanding soaker tub, a double vanity, and a private water closet. Acting as a bridge between spaces, it opens directly into the walk-in closet. This closet includes custom built-ins that balance both function and style.

Connecting Old and New

The hallway connects the new primary suite to the existing upper-level layout. This includes additional bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a laundry room. To ensure the new suite felt original to the home, new flooring was installed throughout the entire level. Consequently, the result is a cohesive and intentionally blended finish.

Main Floor Living Spaces

A custom-built curved staircase greets you from the front entrance. Here, a set of three custom lockers and a black tiled floor mirror those found in the mudroom. This repetition helps the spaces feel visually connected.

Between these areas sits a comfortable living room. It is an ideal place to spend quiet evenings, centred around a fireplace with built-ins and a textured white tile surround from Hamilton's Tile.

Kitchen and Dining

The galley kitchen with Select Kitchens cabinetry is a prime example of what this layout should be. An island placed slightly off to the side leaves clear space through the centre while still providing a comfortable gathering point. It remains out of the way, yet never far from the action.

From here, the homeowners can move swiftly into the dining room for more formal gatherings. Located opposite the island, this space is a highlight of the main floor. It features expansive glazing, a slanted roofline, and original exposed beams. In addition, a nearby powder room was updated with modern finishes and a pocket door, allowing for easy access and added convenience.

A Home Expanded with Care

This home is undoubtedly traditional and welcoming at every turn. The addition allowed the house to widen its wingspan, creating ample room for comfortable family growth and easy evenings spent with gathered friends. Ultimately, this project finished a few years ago was worth the reveal wait.
